What is sun damage?  

 

Sun damage known as photoaging, photodamage or solar damage to the skin caused by ultraviolet (UV) light. This damage causes DNA changes at a cellular level and occurs when the skin is unprotected by sunscreen.

How can I prevent sun damage?

The best way to prevent sun damage is to apply a broad spectrum SPF30 or higher sunscreen cream. Always apply sunscreen at least 15 minutes before sun exposure. Other ways to reduce your risk of sun damage is to avoid being outdoors in the sun at peak times of the day. The sun is at its strongest between the hours of 10am and 4pm. If you can't avoid being exposed to the sun, then it is best to cover the face by wearing a hat, sunglasses and clothing to cover the arms and legs.

How can I manage sun damage?

To reduce the affects and symptoms of sun damage, it is recommended to apply a Moisturising lotion, cream or gel to rehydrate and soothe the skin. Products with natural botanicals and vitamins will be effective at reducing symptoms and repairing the skin.
