Skin & Hair Concerns
Skin Concerns
Pigmentary Disorders
Pigmentary disorders are a general term which includes hyperpigmentary disorders (darkening of the skin) and hypopigmentary disorders (decrease in the normal skin colour).
Rosacea
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory disorder affecting the face. It is prevalent amongst fair-skinned individuals, especially of celtic and northern european origin and is more common in women.
Dry Skin
Dry skin results from lack of water in the outer layer of skin cells (stratum corneum). When this layer becomes dehydrated it loses its flexibility and becomes dry, cracked, scaly and sometimes itchy.
Acne
Acne is a chronic skin disease involving inflammation of the sebaceous glands. It usually appears on the face but can also appear on the back and chest.
Fine Lines & Wrinkles
Fine lines are impression lines which generally form when you smile, laugh or frown and are considered a sign of aging. Fine lines are caused by the reduction of collagen produced, which results in thinner, drier and less elastic skin.
Oily Skin
Oily skin is a common skin condition where an excess amount of sebum is secreted and reaches the skin surface through the skin’s pores, leaving the face with a shiny look and greasy feel.
Hair Concerns
Dandruff
Dandruff is an excessive flaking of skin on the scalp, with some skin flakes caught amongst the hair. Shedding of surface skin cells is normal, as they are gradually replaced by cells formed at the base of the epidermis which then move towards the surface.
Androgenic Alopecia
Androgenic Alopecia is a common form of hair loss in both men and women. In men, this concern is also known as male-pattern baldness. Hair is lost in a well-defined pattern, beginning above both temples.
Seborrheic Dermatitis
The symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis, such as itching and scalliness, reduce gradually under treatment. Your dermatologist may tell you to use a medicated lotion or shampoo every other day until you get relief.
Hair Thinning
Hair thinning is the reduction of width, length, volume, health and overall strength of hair. Hair thinning affects a large portion of the population with 1 in 3 women noticing increased hair thinning as they approach 30.
